Burnham youth choir takes on new name
A FLOURISHING youth choir which has been performing at various events in Burnham has re-launched under a new name.
The Siobhan Johnson Singers Junior Choir, trained by music teacher Siobhan Johnson, has changed status and become The Burnham Youth Choir to better represent the town.
The group have been performing for a few years and have won awards for their performances, singing at many local venues in the town, including the Princess Theatre.
Ms Johnson said: “I feel this is the next progression for the choir so they can sing together as a community.
“We are a modern day, fun choir and sing a whole variety of popular songs from musicals, films to pop music.”
Their first performance, under the new name, will be at The Burnham Rotary Club's Christmas Carol Service at St Andrew's Church, Burnham, on December 14 from 6.30 to 7pm.
The age range for the choir is eight to 18, boys and girls. The group meets on Tuesdays from 5.15pm to 6.15pm at The Community Centre, Burnham, on a ‘pay-as-you-go’ basis.
