South-West cancer deaths on the decline, says charity
7:20am Saturday 21st December 2013 in News
THE death rate from cancer in the South-West has dropped by almost a quarter since the 1990s.
Every year, around 15,400 men and 14,800 women are diagnosed with the disease in the region.
But Cancer Research UK says the number of people dying has fallen significantly, thanks to improved knowledge about disease prevention, better surgical techniques, precisely targeted radiotherapy and more effective drugs.
