POLICE are investigating a series of burglaries across Highbridge, Cheddar and Axbridge.

Since the August bank holiday weekend there have been 12 burglaries across the area which police believe are linked.

The offenders gain access to the properties by damaging ground floor windows or doors and searching the room.

So far the burglars have taken many valuable items including jewellery, currency, an iPad, digital radio, 32” TV and a limited edition Ravensbury jigsaw.

Tickets to a Travis concert in Bristol were also stolen and police believe these may be the key to finding the criminals.

An investigation is taking place and police are appealing for anyone with information about the crimes to come forward.

Mark Leach from the District Targeting Team, who is involved in the investigation said: “These burglaries have to stop and we are doing all we can to identify the people involved and recover the stolen property.

“If anyone suspects someone they know is involved or is helping dispose of the stolen property please let me know.

“I am particularly keen to hear if anyone was asked if they wanted to buy a pair of Travis tickets for a gig in Bristol in October as these had been stolen in one of the burglaries.”

Meanwhile police are urging homeowners in these areas to keep their doors and windows locked and use timers on your lights to make your home look occupied during the evening.

If you have information about the burglaries you can call the police at 101 and quote 91711/13.
