CHARITY walkers donned onesies in the freezing cold last Monday, January 13, and walked almost ten miles from Bridgwater to Burnham.

Their walk was part of a larger charity event in which over 200 bloggers formed together to complete a relay from Lands End in Cornwall to John O’Groats in Scotland.

Fundraisers Nicola Noad and Tammy Ellis founded ‘Challenge Twelve’ in December 2012 when they decided to take part in 12 challenges over 12 months to raise £1,200 for 12 different charities.

In 2013 the team raised over £3,000 so for this year they have decided to aim even higher.

Nicola said: “We’ve upped to fundraising target to £12,000 and the challenges are bigger this year.”

For Nicola’s part of the ‘Team Honk’ relay, they collected the baton from outside Asda in Bridgwater around noon and did a lap around Bridgwater before walking to Burnham.

The ‘Team Honk’ relay from Lands End to John O'Groats is just the first of the 12 planned challenges for the team, Nicola said: “It was really good and there was a decent turn out. After Challenge Twelve last year, we decided to keep it going this year as a way to stay fit and healthy, while raising money for good causes.

“Many are walking, jogging, running, marathon running, swimming, rollerblading and using boats to take part.

“This year we’re climbing Mount Snowdon and fire walking over hot coals, to name a few.”
