STAFF and volunteers at Secret World Wildlife Rescue are asking people to share the love for animals this Valentine's Day.

Marie Denston, animal carer at the East Huntspill rescue centre, said: “There is often heartbreak when dealing with animals as not every story has a happy ending.

“Many people have little understanding about the suffering of wildlife which has been recently affected by the floods and we hope this Valentine's Day people who love wildlife will adopt a fox, badger, otter or owl.”

One of the animal casualties that came in over the weekend was a starling that was so hungry it got itself trapped inside a bird feeder. The starling was released from the feeder and is being treated at the centre.
