CHANGES could be made to where Burnham’s Carnival carts are stored to reduce traffic queuing along the A38.

Phil New, chairman of the Burnham Carnival Committee, said it has suggested lining up the carts along the Frank Foley Parkway by Tesco instead of Queen’s Drive like last year, which led to traffic chaos.

He added: “This will allow Queen’s Drive to remain open over the carnival weekend until carnival day on November 3.

“It will avoid the diversions we saw last year along the A38 when Queen’s Drive was closed back to the Edithmead roundabout.

“We’re also hoping to avoid the A-roads by taking the carts apart in Frank Foley.”
