A FUNDRAISER from Burnham is calling on bands, singers, comedians and dance groups to help with a concert in aid of flood relief.

Ronnie Griffin, of Oxford Street, has already secured some local bands to perform for free in the Somerset Flood Relief Concert at the Playhouse Theatre in Weston on May 9.

But he wants to hear from other acts that are interested in taking part and is also working on getting a celebrity to attend the big event.

Ronnie, who runs a recording business at home as a hobby, told the Weekly News: “We've had quite a few bands come forward already, but we want to hear from any acts that can offer some great entertainment on the night - all in aid of the Somerset Flood Relief Fund.

“I just feel so sorry for those people who have been caught up in the flooding and who in some cases have had to abandon their homes. I wanted to help out, so my friend Tony Glover and I got together to arrange this concert.

“I know what we raise will be small compared to what it will take to put this right, but we need to work together to do what we can.”

Ronny has organised charity shows before and has previously released a charity single. He is hoping for a sell out show.

There will be 650 tickets available for the concert closer to the time from the box office.
