FAMILIES in Lympsham took the chance to go outside and play to raise money for those hit by the floods on the Somerset Levels.

Children and parents gathered for a Stay and Play event at the Lympsham Sports Pavilion on Friday, February 21.

Sarah Saxon, who organised the event along with Laura Wall, Vicki Paget and Julia Rosser, said: “We would like to say a special thank you to parents of Lympsham First School who made cakes and supported the event.

“We were all saddened by the devastation caused by the flooding on the Somerset Levels and wanted to help those families affected.”

Ms Saxon’s daughter Rosie helped organise making over 30 ‘Thinking of You’ cards at the Stay and Play event for the people of Muchelney, where the cards will be delivered by boat.

The event raised £185 with more coming in raised through selling raffle tickets over the weekend.
