THIEVES who targeted a Burnham fishmonger under cover of darkness have made off with hundreds of pounds worth of fish.

The theft from Seafoods in Burnham's High Street happened between 4am and 8am on Saturday and saw around 25kilos of fresh fish taken.

Ryan Mount, assistant manager at the business, said: “They took around £400 worth of stock.

“We've been broken into before and money was taken, but we've never had actual fish taken before.

“The delivery came in at around 4am and the thieves must have known what they were doing because they knew when the delivery was coming and how we transfer it between our gates.

“It must have been more than one person for them to have lifted the boxes of fish over the gates.”

Police have spoken to local restaurants to see if they have been offered fish under suspicious circumstances and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them on 101.
