SEVENTIES' rockers Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel have confirmed they’ll be joining Toploader at May's flood fundraiser concerts in Bridgwater and Yeovil.

Fronted by the South London-born Harley, the band’s biggest hit was by far ‘Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)’ which reached #1 in the UK charts in February 1975. The song sold over 1 million copies worldwide.

Harley had been scribbling away as a local news journalist in the early seventies when he and original member, folk artist John Crocker, decided to join forces in Cockney Rebel – which Harley used as a “vehicle for his own work”.

The Performing Rights Society has confirmed ‘Make Me Smile’ as one of the most played records in British broadcasting, covered more than 11 times in seven languages, and featured in The Full Monty, among other films.

They’ll join English ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ stars Toploader at two gigs on Friday May 16, at the Blake Hall in Bridgwater and Saturday May 17 at Yeovil's Westland Leisure complex.

Tickets are on sale at the Blake Hall, Bridgwater music shop Strings 'N' Things, Yeovil's Westlands or www.seetickets.com

All profits generated by the concerts will go direct to Somerset Community Foundation & the Flooding on the Levels Action Group.
