VISUALLY impaired people in Sedgemoor are being urged to make sure they are claiming their 50% reduction on the cost of their TV licence.

Anybody who is severely sight-impaired, or lives with someone who is, can benefit after TV Licensing teamed up with RNIB.

Last year more than 37,400 blind concessionary licences were issued in the UK, including over 30 in Bridgwater.

A blind concession TV licence costs £72.75 for colour and £24.50 for a black and white licence.

Mike Bell, regional campaigns officer for RNIB in the South-West, said: “Some blind people, and their families, may not be aware that they are eligible to claim a reduction in the cost of their TV licence.

“TV continues to be a popular form of entertainment for many people with sight loss, thanks in part to recent improvements in talking TV programme guides.

“We would encourage people to apply for their reduced TV Licence if they haven’t already done so.”
