THE sixth annual Somerset in Business Conference will take place on Thursday, June 5, at Junction 24 near Bridgwater, it has been announced.
This year’s event, titled ‘Developing the Workforce for Somerset’ and hosted by Somerset Chamber of Commerce, will focus on the importance of training and developing skills and attitudes Somerset businesses need to grow.
The conference will be split into three sessions: Inspiring Young People in the Workplace; Higher Level Skills for Business; and Skilling the Hinkley Workforce.
One-to-one surgeries will run in the afternoon with the Hinkley Supply Chain, National Apprenticeship Service, Somerset Chamber of Commerce and SWMAS.
Graham Knight, chair of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce and head of business development at Strode College, is facilitating the first of the three sessions.
He said: “This is the main business conference in Somerset this year and it is only right that we address and debate the biggest issues.”
This year’s event, set to attract 250 delegates, is sponsored by EDF Energy and Somerset College.
It will start at 8am with networking and an exhibition area and the conference will open at 9am.
