A WOMAN has fallen 30 feet from a cathedral in Somerset today (April 29).

The victim, believed to be in her 60s, was with a group of 12 other people taking part in a tour around Wells Cathedral before the incident happened.

Police were called at 12.11pm as a rescue operation is under way to rescue a woman who is 'wedged between two turrets'.

Members of the public are being asked to stay away and the woman is believed to have injured her arm, and is in a state of shock, but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering.

Wells Cathedral confirms that an incident occurredthis morningduring a High Parts Tour of the Cathedral.

They added: "A group of 12 adults were undertaking the final stage of a standard Cathedral High Parts Tour.

"While the group was undertaking a briefing within this space an incident occurred to one of the party members.

"The Cathedral’s emergency procedure was immediately put into operation and emergency services are now in attendance, including the air ambulance.

"No details are yet available as to how the incident occurred but all further High Parts Tours and Cathedral Tower Tours are cancelled until further notice while a review of the incident takes place."
