A CHARITY bike ride is being held in memory of a Brent Knoll man who died after losing his three-year battle with a lung condition.

Chris Evans, who lived in the area for 25 years, suffered from an incurable condition and died in 2011 while waiting for a double lung transplant.

His family has arranged a series of bike rides and has raised over £3,000 over the past two years for charities in his honour.

The next Chris Evans Bike Ride and barbecue will be held on Sunday, June 29 at 11am, starting from The Red Cow pub in Brent Knoll.

Chris’s daughter Jenny said: “The ride is to raise funds for the British Lung Foundation with a donation also being made to the imp-rovement of Crooked Lane, Brent Knoll.

“This charity ride is in its third year. Chris suffered from a lung condition for three years and funds raised will help toward research at the British Lung Foundation.”

The 26-mile route will take cyclists through the beautiful countryside of the Somerset Levels to Godney, returning for the barbecue in the gardens of The Red Cow.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £6 for children, from The Red Cow or the post office until Monday, June 23. For information about the British Lung Foundation visit www.blf.org.uk
