A NEW head teacher has been appointed at Brent Knoll Primary School.

The school’s Governing Body appointed Chris Burman as head of the school, and he jumped straight into action after the school holidays.

Mr Burman said: “I’m delighted to have accepted the appointment as head teacher at Brent Knoll, where everyone has been so welcoming.

“I’ll be working with an excellent team of staff to build on the progress made in recent years and seek to achieve even higher standards for the pupils.”

Mr Burman was deputy head at Bridgwater College Academy’s primary campus.

He has said being in a more rural school such as Brent Knoll represents an exciting change for him.

He said: “The school is like a close-knit family.

“We’re hoping to expand to five classes in the summer. We’re working on plans now to develop our outdoor education and provide lots more after-school opportunities for children to take part in.”

Hugh Mackay, chairman of governors, said: “I congratulate Chris on his appointment and the governing body looks forward to working with him over the coming years in further developing our successful school.”
