RESIDENTS of Moorland were treated to a royal visit when the Earl and Countess of Wessex came to talk to those affected by the devastating floods.
On a bright and warm day with blossoming scenery all around, it was hard to imagine how the village looked just a few months ago with flood levels reaching around five feet.
Prince Edward and his wife Sophie were welcomed by flood victims, school children and volunteers from the Somerset Emergency Volunteer group as they arrived and got to speak to a few people before walking down to Church Farm, one of the many buildings that was severely damaged in the floods earlier this year.
Resident Kathy Robertson said: “It’s delightful that they can keep in the loop with what’s going on and offer their support.
“They were so sympathetic towards the flood victims and seemed very interested in the house.
“They also knew a lot about the area already and had information ready to talk about when they arrived.”
A member of the SEV also plucked up the courage to ask for a 'selfie' photo with Prince Edward, who kindly obligued.
