SHOWERS failed to dampen the spirits at a nursing home in Burnham where the summer fair went – almost – according to plan.
The weather made it anything but summery but staff, residents and visitors at Burnham Nursing and Residential Home in Oxford Street, nevertheless raised hundreds of pounds at their annual event – seeking shelter inside for their stalls.
Attractions included a raffle, afternoon teas, cakes, various stalls and tombola but the brass band and dog show were cancelled due to the bad weather.
Helen Somers, one of the organisers, said: “Our thanks go to all those who popped in to the fair.
“Although the weather was very changeable, we made a profit of £234.25 and also receivedakind donation of £100 from one lovely visitor, making a grand total of £334.25.”
The home will be hosting a Christmas fair on December 6.
