BURNHAM’S Lighthouse Trail has so far raised £1,000 in donations as well as providing fun for residents and visitors.

Thirty-four eye-catching replicas of the town’s lighthouse are sited around the area including Burnham, Brean, Lympsham, Watchfield and Highbridge.

Each of the 6ft models has been painted by a different local group, creating a challenging lighthouse trail to follow.

The money raised is for cancer charity ‘Petal’ founded in memory of Christine Woodbury.

The trail finishes at the end of August and the lighthouses will be auctioned in aid of the Petal charity.

Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Martin Cox said: “We are now in the peak holiday season and many visitors are probably wondering what these lighthouses are all about. Well, spend a day exploring and try to find as many as you can!”
