CANDLES shining across the water provided a moving tribute to lost loved ones on Burnham’s Esplanade at the first event of its kind.

The ‘Light up the Lake’ evening at Marine Cove Gardens gave families and friends the chance to celebrate their memories of loved ones and to raise valuable funding to support the work of Weston Hospicecare.

Visitors to the gardens could add a unique dedication message to a colourful candle bag and floating flower.

Jacqui Strong, Sedgemoor District Council’s community gardener’ said: “Whether you choose to keep your flower or drift it out onto the water, it represents a dear friend or relative who is no longer with you.

“The light shining brightly across the water will reflect the loving memories you have shared.”
This event, held last Wednesday, was organised with help from St Andrew’s Church.
