A BURNHAM petrol station has won the right to sell alcohol 24 hours a day despite protests from nearby residents.
Esso Petrol Station in Oxford Street applied to Sedgemoor’s licensing panel to extend its sales of alcohol and food.
It has been given the go-ahead with police conditions: the installation of a comprehensive CCTV system; that all spirits are kept behind the counter; and that all employees must receive training on commencement of employment with regard to preventing the sale of alcohol to persons under the required age and proxy sales.
Residents opposed the application, saying it could lead to anti-social behaviour.
