ENERGETIC staff at Morrisons in Burnham have been saddling up for a global cycling challenge to raise cash for Sue Ryder.

The team at the Pier Street store has completed 223 miles on a static bike – which is their part of a Round The World Cycle Challenge to complete 24,902 miles, which is the same as the total circumference of the world.

The shop manager Steve Concannon also braved the stocks where he was pelted with sponges for the cause and also endured buckets of icy water thrown at him.

The money raised will enable Sue Ryder, the shop’s chosen charity for the year, to create new community services and an online system of help and support across the UK and South-West.
