VILLAGERS at East Brent enjoyed the 157th Harvest Home celebration which involved a veritable feast and entertainment for all the family.

For the first time this year the church service was held in the marquee in the village to make it easier for those unable to walk long distances to enjoy both parts of the day without having to make a long trip.

Children were kept amused with children’s entertainer Molly Muddles and they also enjoyed egg and spoon and sack races.

The ever-popular New Society Jazz Band was the afternoon’s highlight at Friday’s event.

Organiser Betty Griffin said: “It was a fantastic day and everything went really well.

“The idea of having the church service in the marquee was very well received.

“Traditionally the church service is at 12.15pm followed by the lunch at 1pm.”
