TRIBUTES have been paid to a Burnham teenager who died last week.

Eighteen-year-old Charley Marks died on Wednesday, September 10. He leaves his parents Richard and Jo, brother Harry, sister Daisy-Mae and family and friends.

Speaking to the Weekly News, Charley’s mum said: “We miss him so much – it’s just a tragedy and he is loved by everybody.”

Friends of the former King Alfred School pupil have been holding a series of candlelit vigils at Manor Gardens in Burnham with hundreds of young people in attendance.

A minute’s silence was held before Saturday’s home game at Burnham Rugby Club, where Charley had played rugby since he was four.

Club chairman Caine Harding said: “He played as a junior for the club for many years and was an asset to the club.

“He had the heart of a lion and played some good rugby. Our hearts go out to his family and we are here to help in any way that we can.”

Charley’s funeral will be held tomorrow (Friday) at 10am at St Andrew’s Church, Burnham.

His family has asked that those attending the service do not wear black or formal clothing.

Jo added: “Charley’s friends are coming in skinny jeans and Ralph Lauren tops because those were the clothes he always liked to wear.”

The service will be followed by a private burial ceremony.
