SEDGEMOOR District Council is urging small and medium-sized businesses across the district to take up the Government’s offer of free training about data protection.
The Information Commissioner’s Office is the regulator for data protection in the UK and are offering two free data protection workshops – one in central London on September 23 and another at the NEC in Birmingham on September 25.
The workshops are aimed at people who are either new to the DPA or have little experience or understanding of its obligations.
The workshops are for small to medium-sized enterprises from various sectors ranging from charities to private companies.
The event is aimed at staff or managers with limited practical experience of data protection working for companies who have responsibility for processing personal data.
The day will provide a basic overview of responsibilities as a data controller, examples of real life scenarios, and solutions to some common issues.
