COASTGUARDS in Burnham and BARB crewmembers were called to help a dog walker after her pet was injured in an accident.
Crews attended the incident on Friday, September 5, on an isolated path beside the River Brue near Burnham Sailing Club at around 10am after one of the owner’s two dogs hurt itself.
It was believed the animal had broken a leg and the coastguard was called to help the owner in recovering his pet from the remote location.
The dog, an Alaskan Malamute, was delivered to a waiting vet who had been asked to attend the scene from a local vets surgery in Burnham.
The dog owner, who did not wish to be named, said she was “hugely grateful” for the coastguard’s help.
