NINE out of ten teachers have considered packing in the profession during the last two years because of their workload.

That was one of the shocking findings of a poll of 16,379 teachers conducted over four days this week.

The National Union of Teachers survey also found that 87% of teachers knew at least one colleague who had quit in the last two years because of workload, and 96.5% said workload was having negative consequences for their family or personal life.
