A £4.9 MILLION scheme to resurface and waterproof the M5 motorway between junctions 23 and 24 is getting underway and expected to take until March.
Work on the Huntworth Viaduct will involve replacement of just over half a mile of worn-out steel barriers with a concrete system and replacement of the expansion joints.
Preparatory work for the set-up of narrow lanes started on the northbound and southbound carriageways on Monday and will continue nightly from 7pm until late October.
The junction 23 southbound entry slip will be closed nightly from 9pm-6am until Sunday.
The junction 24 northbound entry slip will be closed nightly from Saturday to Monday (October 11-13).
Diversions will be signposted and a temporary 50mph speed limit will be enforced.
Highways Agency manager Andrew Clark said: “We remind drivers to pay extra attention while driving through roadworks and observe all speed limits which are there for everyone’s safety.”
