A HOLIDAY village in Burnham is planning a major revamp to help bring its facilities into the 21st Century and create new jobs for the area.

Haven caravan park in Marine Drive has put in plans to revamp the front entrance as well as create a new activity zone and restaurant.

The proposal will also lead of the creation of more jobs than the current use of the land which is laid out as an amusement area.

Haven says that the revamp will mean managers, chiefs, hospitality staff and restaurant staff will be required.

New landscaping work around the front entrance to the premises will be completed in coastal materials to make it more appealing as a tourist attraction.

The restaurant, Cook’s fish and chips, will offer takeaway facilities for visitors.

The planning application, which has been submitted to Sedgemoor District Council, states: “By reducing the arcade and adding family activities and services, the facilities will be more family friendly.

The proposal will enhance facilities and be more appealing to customers that will help to increase visitor numbers as well as retain existing users of the site.

“The frontage to the building will be significantly improved with the redeveloped landscaping and the redesigned entrance which incorporates the use of coastal materials and detailing.”
