WINDS of up to 40 miles an hour battered Burnham this week, causing a number of trees to be uprooted and fall over roads and gardens.
Trees were reported to have fallen in Queen Square, Highbridge, blocking the entrance to a block of flats; in Worston Lane, Highbridge, and in New Road, East Huntspill.
Mark Durrant, who was travelling through Burnham on Tuesday, said the gusts were so strong items from recycling boxes were left strewn all down Burnham Road. He said: βIt was causing problems as many people left stuff out as normal.β
