BURNHAM-ON-SEA Swimming Club has been awarded the ASA Swim21 status as a quality mark for the club.

The national recognition means the club is now recognised by Sport England and will now receive the clubmark status to support the club in its plans for the future to gain further development funding.

The club members are also celebrating outstanding results.

In the South West Regional Masters competition where Greg Kyd won an amazing six gold medals in his age group.

Meanwhile in the Somerset ASA Development Meet, the younger swimmers had tremendous success as seven swimmers swam in 39 races over the two day event achieving 28 personal best times, 21 County qualifying times, six 1st places, five 2nd places, four 3rd places and four 4th places – hauling total of 15 medals.

Sally Plume, chair of Burnham Swimming Club, said: “Well done to the all swimmers, we have had a very busy and successful time recently.

“The club wants to continue to support the community in being able to offer an affordable learn to swim programme and competitive club opportunities to all young people.

“Under the direction and guidance of an enthusiastic committee Burnham-on-Sea Swimming Club is going from strength to strength.”

The club has also recently been shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank Community Fund where they are in with a shout of winning a fund between £500 and £3000, dependent on the number of votes received.
