BURNHAM’S Christmas lights will be switched on at the weekend as the highlight of a day of festive entertainment and a special seasonal market.

Local TV presenter Alex Lovell will have the honour of flicking the switch on Saturday (November 22) at 4.45pm.

The event kicks with the Coastline Singers at 12.30pm, followed at 1.10pm by the BOS Factor talent show.

Those wishing to join the BOS Factor talent contest can still do as the deadline for entries has been extended to this Friday.

The Berrow Hand Bell Ringers will be entertaining the audience shortly after 2pm with Father Christmas making his official arrival in Burnham expected at 2.35pm.

For the first time there will also be a display of real reindeer in Victoria Street to accompany Santa this year.

The choir from Burnham’s St Joseph’s School will sing from 3.05pm, followed by 3.35pm by a performance by Curtain Call and St Andrew’s School choir will be singing on the stage at 4pm as crowds gather ready for the switch-on.

An outdoor food and craft gift market will be held along Victoria Street with choirs and community groups performing festive music throughout the day from noon until 5.30pm.
