A FIRM set up and run by two former King Alfred School students is expanding by taking on an apprentice from their old school.

Entrepreneur businessmen Russell Hicks and Elliot Lamb have seen their L&H Plumbing expand out of Burnham just three years after setting it up.

Now they have reached out to their old school for recruits as their business goes from strength to strength.

They have taken on 16- year-old Harrison Kidner as an apprentice and have offered to take on work experience placements.

They have also taken on the role as first point of contact for all works at the school.

Russell said: “We are delighted at how the business has developed.

“Our old school always encouraged us to be creative and entrepreneurial – now we are aiming to build the links with the school and it is brilliant we have been able to take on Harrison.”

The school’s careers coordinator, Suzanne Lawrence, said: “This is an incredible success story and one which is ongoing.

“It is wonderful news to hear they are now starting to take on ex-students as they look to expand.

“We would be interested in any other business who wants to take on our students in some way.”
