BUSINESSES in Sedgemoor have chance to shine with the launch of the 2015 Sedgemoor Business Excellence Awards.

The awards are being hosted once again by Bridgwater College and Alstom Power UK has been revealed as the principal sponsor.

The awards were launched at an event at the college attended by the key sponsors including Alstom Power UK, an international engineering company operating in the energy and transport sectors which has more than 30 sites and 6,500 people in the UK.

Richard Kelly, managing director of Alstom Power UK’s rotating plant business said: “We at Alstom know that we’d be nothing without our customers and that’s why we constantly strive to do the best job that we can in all that we do, and that’s why we’re delighted to be principal sponsor for the Sedgemoor Business Excellence Awards and to help recognise the successes of local businesses.”

Other sponsors include Sedgemoor District Council, The Breeze Radio Station, Somerset County Cricket Club, Pardoes Solicitors, Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce and Milsted Langdon.

The Weekly News is media partner of the awards, which will be announced at a celebration dinner on March 19. Matt Tudor, head of business development at the college and chair of the awards organising committee, said: “There is nothing better than to be recognised for your success by your peers and this event helps to showcase the fantastic efforts and achievements being made in this corner of Somerset.

“We are delighted to be involved for a third year and are sure that the 2015 event will be even more popular than the last.”

In support of the awards, Somerset County Cricket Club is offering a pair of tickets to a oneday 50-over match for the first 50 companies to submit an entry.

The organisers are also looking for businesses to take advantage of the remaining sponsorship opportunities who in return will receive various benefits including inclusion in event publicity and the opportunity to present their sponsored award.
