BIG-hearted mum Lorna Story is taking a short cut to raise funds for children with cancer.

She is undergoing a sponsored haircut to donate some of her long red hair to be made into wigs for youngsters who have lost theirs due to the illness.

And if she reaches her £1,000 target, the mum-ofthree says she will baldly go all the way and have her head clean shaved.

Lorna, from Palmers Road in Burnham, came up with the hair-raising idea after losing three close relatives to cancer.

“Cancer affects nearly everyone I know in one way or another.

We lost my incredible nan to cancer three years ago and my amazing brotherin- law and beautiful cousin are currently working hard to kick cancer’s butt,” she explained.

“I’ve comforted close friends when cancer has stolen from them and rejoiced when other loved ones have won their battle.

“I’m not the sort of person who would run a race to raise money so I’m doing something that won’t come easy to me but is actually a no brainer if I can make even just a small difference.”

Lorna heard about the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for children with cancer from real donated hair.

She set up a fundraising page and has already reached over £400 and hopes to hit £1,000 before she goes under the scissors next week.

“I joked that if I hit £1,000 I’d go bald which is a bit scary but if it helps children with cancer, I might just do it. Besides, I can always buy a woolly hat,” added Lorna.

“My lovely friend Kelly is a qualified hairdresser and she’ll be doing the business. I’m asking people to donate whatever they can to support me in my quest and share my JustGiving page so others can help too. I’d like to give a special thanks to Terry Rickard of Burnham Waste who donated £150 when I reached £150. People all over Burnham have been so generous.”
