RESIDENTS in Burnham North have come together to plant up two banks in The Grove to bring some natural beauty to the area.
They have stocked the land with 500 daffodil bulbs from Sedgemoor District Council and more than 80 trees from the Woodland Trust.
Burnham town centre manager and resident Bev Milner Simonds said: “We have had a good legacy of community events in The Grove, Marlborough Court and Gardenhurst.
“The offer of free bulbs from Sedgemoor and the hedgerow plants from the Woodland Trust has allowed us to plant up two long banks with a diverse range of native trees.
“We hope that they will encourage more wildlife and pollinators, and also, in future years a modest harvest of edible fruits.”
She added: “I hope that more residents are inspired to talk with the council about planting up areas around their homes. We want to thank Steve Scriven, the county arboriculturalist, and Clean Surroundings for their support to this project.”
