MANY people would agree it’s Sweet by name sweet by nature as young Gracie from Brent Knoll got four yeses from judges on Britain’s Got Talent for her delightful vocals.

Gracie Wickens-Sweet’s beautiful performance of Somewhere Over the Rainbow on Saturday earned her plenty of praise from the judges.

“That was just fantastic,” gushed Amanda Holden a sentiment pretty much echoed by everyone – but will it be enough to get the 11-year-old into the semifinal or even win?

Her mother Anne Sweet is keeping her fingers crossed. She told the Burnham Weekly News: “She’s up against some real talent but you could say she’s the hidden gem and things might just go her way in the end. It’s a lot to ask though.

She had a cough on her first performance which actually turned out to be quite positive as it meant she could show the judges she could give a lot more with her performance.

“She’s been building up to this for a few years – so we are really hoping for the best.”

Gracie is already being treated as a mini celebrity at her school, Hugh Sexey in Wedmore. Everyone gave her a big cheer when she came back in and children have watched her TV appearance on big screens. Gracie has also performed at events around Somerset including the Healing Weekend, an annual festival at Secret World.

Her mother said since her performance Gracie’s phone had been constantly ringing with friends contacting her.
