NEW guidelines have been issued to Burnham traders in an effort to reduce the number of pavement advertisement boards in the centre.
Town centre manager Beverley Milner Simonds has published the new guide after consulting with businesses, residents, councillors and council officers in an attempt to tackle the problem of A-boards, displays and tables & chairs cluttering the pavement in the town centre.
Beverley said: “A-boards are a really emotive issue locally – traders want to get the message out about their business, passers-by can label them as a hazard and other businesses call “foul” when they perceive another trader has over stepped the mark.
“It is not my role to enforce the rules, I am here to try and assist businesses and help them get to the answers quicker.
“On this sometimes contentious issue I hope the guidance document will help.”
