A man had to be cut free from the wreckage after a head-on crash on the A38 yesterday evening.
Firefighters were called to the A38 near West Buckland Junction after receiving a call from the ambulance service reporting an adult male trapped in a car after a head on collision.
Fire appliances from Wellington were immediately mobilised, as well as the rescue tender from Taunton.
A spokesman said: "The officer in charge confirmed there had been a two vehicle road traffic incident with one person still trapped.
"Crews removed the roof of the vehicle to release the casualty safety."
The man was left in the hands of ambulance staff who transfered him to hospital via land ambulance.
