FIRE fighters rushed to a nursing home in Burnham yesterday evening (July 1) after reports of a fire.
They were called to the incident just before 5pm at the Burnham Lodge Nursing Home on Berrow Road.
Due to the large number of bed bound residents, the fire was treated as possibly having people who needed to be rescued, so engines from Burnham and the aerial engine from Bridgwater were sent.
At around 5.30pm, the fire, which was in a wooden guttering was under crontrol and was out on arrival.
The fire was caused accidentally by workmen working on the roof.
Crews carried out an inspection only, externally and of the internal loft space, using a thermal image camera and small tools, to confirm the fire was out and had not spread.
None of the residents or staff were involved or injured.
