Firefighters tackled a blaze at the former Tuckers Garage site in Burnham on Sunday after an arson attack.
Crews were called to the derelict site on Victoria Street at just before 2am after a report that the wooden hoardings were on fire.
Town centre manager Bev Milner Simondssaid: "I have been liaising with the Police and Clean Surroundings over the past 10 weeks about the use of the Tuckers Garage site by a vagrant and more recently young people.
"It is a further blow to the traders at the northern end of the town centre that this large site has suffered this damage.
"I will be in contact with the site owners and other local parties on Monday to press to get the hoarding reinstated as soon as possible."
35 'retirement apartments' are set to be built on the site after planning permission was granted.
