BURNHAM took a step back in time on Sunday for the third annual hobby horse jousting event.

The medieval themed fun took place next to The Pavillion on the beach and spectators were treated to a parade of characters in costume led by the king.

Pupils from King Alfred School wowed with a choreographed sword fight and dance.

The event was to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and organiser Gaynor Brown said she thought around £160 had been raised.

She added: "It's always a struggle but we always manage to get there.

"It was a fantastic day and the pupils from King Alfred were brilliant.

"Hopefully there will be a fourth one next year and we already have some other ideas planned for the day."
