At this week's meeting of North Petherton Town Council held in the bowling club there was a shocking report of criminal behaviour. Around 30 cars were vandalised in the town over the last few days with their tyres slashed causing widespread disgust and anger.
One councillor said she had contacted the police who said she could have a crime number so she could claim on her insurance. The roads where the incidents took place over the weekend included Watery Lane where one councillor said residents were terrified by the behaviour of what they believed was the work of three youths.
The mayor Alan Bradford said it was vital that residents report the incidents to alert police to the problem. The council voted to ask police to attend future meetings to give a full crime report.
