Work costing £46,000 began on resurfacing part of South Esplanade in Burnham.
The repairs are taking place between the Pilot Hut and Jetty Hut, and started on Monday November 23 and are scheduled to last 7 to 10 days, depending on the weather.
Sedgemoor District Council say the repairs are necessary as the current surface is showing wear and tear and crumbling tarmac will be replaced by standard coloured tarmac.
New benches and bins will be installed at the same time.
The cost of the work is £46,000 and appropriate barriers and signage will be put in place for pedestrians.
The works are being done now, rather than in the spring, due to the earliness of the Easter holidays (March 24 – April 11).
