JUST under £1 million will potentially be cut from mental health services as the council looks to overhaul the management system.
The proposed budget cuts relate to a management reorganisation of the mental health social work service for adults.
The council is proposing that the management function of the work, which is currently carried out by the Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SOMPAR), commissioned by the council, returns to the council.
The council said the proposal does not seek to reduce the level of social care and support in place, but that if proposals go ahead, the way some services are delivered will change as a result.
Included in the planned £956,000 budget cut is the discontinuation of the Learning Disabilities Development Fund.

A spokesman for Somerset County Council said that the Learning Disabilities Development Fund was historically funded by government.
He added: “We have allocated funding to it for a few years to complete short term development projects. These projects have now come to an end. They are part of the general business of Learning Disabilities services and are not linked to the specific plans regarding provider services.”
