Part of Marine Drive could be renamed Station Approach following a suggestion made by heritage campaigners. The idea was put forward to councillors at the Town Projects meeting to remind residents of the history of the branch line that once connected Highbridge and Burnham.
Today's Marine Drive follows the path of the former railway and it was suggested that together with the railway buffers the name of Station Approach would be an appropriate echo of the days of steam.
Cllr Peter Burridge Clayton said it was an excellent idea and councillors agreed to recommend it to full council.
