RESIDENTS and staff at the Towans residential care home have been raising awareness for Dementia Week.
During the week of May 19 to 23, a variety of activities were enjoyed.
A for Towans said: "Reminiscence is really important part of care and is very good for dementia.
"We decided to do a walk through time so our residents could reminisce about old times.
"We had displays of items from 1920s through to the present day.
"Residents and visitors enjoyed looking and talking about things they used to have and use.
"We have also made memory frames for each residents door filling them with pictures and items that tell us a bit about the resident in that room.
"Finally, with the help from family and friends we are making memory boxes to go inside each residents room.
"These will be filled with personal pictures, life history stories and items from their past.
"Some residents have even been collecting badges and items they have made over the years and these will be great to look back at over the coming years.
I have added some pictures and hope this will be added to the paper as it is so important to raise awareness of this illness."
