AFTER a spate of high value jewellery thefts in the Burnham area, Avon and Somerset police have asked people to secure their homes and be alert.

Jewellery and cash has been taken from 13 residential properties in North Somerset and Sedgemoor over the last two months.

Burglaries have been reported in Portishead, Long Ashton, Berrow, Burnham-on-Sea and other villages across the west part of Sedgemoor.

The police have been given descriptions of three men in connection with these burglaries and are keeping an open mind about whether the incidents can be linked.

C/Inspector Lisa Simpson, Area Commander for Somerset West, said: “We are very keen to speak to anyone who has information about these burglaries or who potentially knows who these men are.

“The burglaries seem to have taken place during the day, particularly in Sedgemoor, and during the evening in North Somerset.

“I would encourage people to take some relatively simple steps to protect their property and make it more difficult for thieves to steal precious family heirlooms.

The police have been given descriptions of three men in connection with these burglaries and are keeping an open mind about whether the incidents can be linked.
