A WOMAN was rescued by firefighters after her car ended up in a water-filled ditch and she was unable to get out.

Firefighters were called to the incident in Harp Road, Mark, at 3.11am this morning (Sunday, May 29) after the vehicle skidded off the road.

No other vehicles were involved.

Crews made their way through foliage to get to the woman using small tools and water safety equipment.

She was assisted to safety using a triple extension ladder and dry suits and was left in the care of the ambulance service.
