A MAN was air lifted to hospital after accidentally choking on chlorine fumes.

The 29-year-old was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol after ambulance and fire crews were called to a property on Kimber Close in Highbridge at around 7.30pm last night.

The man was believed to be choking after he came out of a swimming pool.

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said: "One male was believed to be choking after he came out of a swimming pool.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle, ambulance and helicopter, and the helicopter left the property at 9.15pm to take the patient to Southmead Hospital."

Fire crews were also called, along with a HAZMAT officer.

After liaising with on scene paramedics, crews assisted them with the casualty, who was later air lifted to hospital, before making the scene safe.

Duty of care was then left with the owner of the property.
