BURNHAM and Highbridge Sea Cadets vice chairman is taking on a 22 mile sponsored swim to help raise money for the organisation.

Carol Roberts will be undertaking the 22 mile swim, which is the length of the channel, at Fusion Health Centre near Edithmead throughout October.

Any money raised will go toward upgrading the workshops and classrooms at the sea cadet office on Cassis Close, Burnham-on-Sea.

If you feel you are able to make a donation, please send it to the unit in Cassis Close, Burnham-On-Sea, for the attention of Carol Roberts.

Mrs Roberts said: "I am involved with the Sea Cadet Unit as vice chairman as my son went to the cadets as both a junior and senior cadet and they did so much for him.

"I have always wanted to swim the channel distance and thought this would be a really good way of, not only challenging myself, but to give something back to the cadet unit for all the help they gave Tom.

"I am hoping that if I can do about 200 lengths per day then the distance will be covered in about two weeks," she said.

Burnham and Highbridge Sea Cadets is always on the look out for new committee members - if you feel you would like to find out more about the work of the sea cadets, please contact the unit to arrange a look around.
